This hostel is one of a kind. Its not very close to anything, but mostly because theres nothing out there. It got one house where the restaurant is. The menu is filled with different verities of chicken, beef and fish. The fish depends on the availability in the stores, however i got Barracuda, which was amazing!
The dorms are in two other buildings, they are separated by an staircase. theres around 20 beds in each dorm, but they are very spacious and you never feel that there is a lot of people around. Or in fact, i cant actually say that because there was only about 4 people spread out in the dormitory.
They put the pillow on the “wrong” side of the bed. Strange i thought, but boy was i in for a treat! When I woke up the day after i sat up in the bed and there it was.. right in front of me… the rainforest! A panoramic view out over the canopy. A priceless view for 30RM a night. There was only one thing between me and the jungle, that was a mossy net. Thank god for the mosquito nets around!
The showers and toilets are downstairs, dorms are in the second floor. They are clean, hot water, toilet paper(i know I haven’t really written that on any of the other hostel reviews, but usually theres toilet paper, but not a guaranty that it is) and it just feels very private but at the same time theres a lot of people around.
The hostel offer all the tours around. The orangutan center, rainforest discovery center and kinabatangan river cruise. They offer a lot more, and are very eager to sell you the tours. They are relatively cheap, and on most tours they drive you to the attraction for free and you only need to pay entrance fee’s.
Tip, every place take a fee for bringing a camera. Just say you dont have a camera. They never check! Do not be shy, but dont sue me if you get caught!
